Just wanted to give a quick update on hummingbird 2. If you’ve been watching different automation tools for following, unfollowing and building lists within, twitter hummingbird was one of the first ones to come out and it really has set the standards higher for other competing products.
Hummingbird 2 product is going to allow us to do some things that currently none of the other products are doing and it’s doing it in a fully automated manner. e.g. the follow engine, as long as the software is running which you can let it run day in and day out, listens to the live Twitter stream for users who mentions any of the keywords you’ve instructed it to listen for. These users are analyzed further, by looking up critical statistics about their account history from TwitterCounter and Twitter itself.
Users who are identified as candidates are then graded according to a set of parameters you configured. Users who grade high enough are automatically followed by Hummingbird 2. Hummingbird will remember this user in its internal database and will use this information later when deciding whether or not to continue following this user.
Hummingbird 2 has a very intelligent unfollow engine too. Basically it only unfollows when it needs to unfollow somebody to make room for a another follower so it’s dealing with one at a time. Really the fact of it to address is the unfollow and the unfollow churn that twitter is so concerned about. So how does hummingbird 2 know how to do all of this.
If you look at the configuration tab, this is where you set your keywords which hummingbird 2 will be listenng for, in the twitter stream. If your target audience is for example, people who are interested in twitter automation solutions, you could use ‘twitter automation, twitter software, twitter marketing, tweet later, tweet adder’ etc as your keywords. You may also tell hummingbird to ignore anyone who doesn’t have a custom avatar. You can set numbers to suit your prference according to
-users with at least this many followers
-users following at least this many people
-users with at least this ratio of followers/following
-users with at least with this many number of updats etc..
There’s also a grading mechanism, where you could establish a grade and based on that particular grade hummingbird 2 will decide upon whether or not to follow a person. When you apply all these, basically twitter just sits in the background running and it listens to the stream looking for any twitter conversations that triggers any of your keywords and follows or not follows people based on the selection critirea you have specified.
There are plenty of statistical reporting to analyze your twitter progress. The brilliance of hummingbird 2 is that you have the ability to set your own quality criteria for your followers and followings. This in return produces an inevitable high quality targeted audience and a genuine follower base.
