How To Use WordPress Plugins

How to use wordpress plugins? I’m thinking if I should rephrase the title to ‘How to select wordpress plugins’. Plugins are one of the many reasons to fall in love with wordpress. Whatever the functionality you require on your blog, 99% chance that you’d find a wordpress plugin for it.  With latest versions of wordpress allowing the search and installation of plugins within the admin panel, it’s just a peace of cake to modify a blog with extra functionality.

WordPress Plugins are very easy to get carried away with and it can sometimes be overwhelming to workaround them. Eventually you might have to twist and tweak plugins individually or in combination, just to shape them to do what you exactly want them to do. It’s always best to avoid plugins if the purpose is not of high importance.

7 Things to check when installing plugins

  • Remember the fact that plugins are 3rd party peaces of codes that aren’t always reliable
  • Check the wordpress version compatibility
  • Take note of the user count of the plugin
  • Visit the plugin author page for more indepth info
  • Read reviews and ratings from the actual users and webmasters
  • Analyze the gravity of the purpose
  • Update and maintain the plugin version and changes

This is how I think, wordpress plugins must be used and this is exactly what I had failed to execute. If you have a tip or two to add please do so with a comment below.
